AmTech formed in 1989 with backing from NASA. Its extensive contacts in aerospace have led its primary clients to be large aerospace companies and federal agencies engaged in R&D (NASA, DOD, FAA, DOE), but it has also worked on social change projects with the U.S. State Department and various nonprofit organizations, and on technology transfer and product introduction strategies with the State of California and small and emerging businesses. Many of its efforts have engaged universities.
