Building Teams AmTech has built collaborative teams of varying kinds and scale since its inception in 1989. Some of the teams have been small, some have been as large as one hundred persons. The team objectives have been about policy change, technology development, business development, and social development. The following three selections of our recent work portray the diversity of projects and the level of political, business, and organizational complexity AmTech is accustomed to addressing. The Joint Planning and Development Office (JPDO) AmTech is the Collaboration Facilitator for this Washington D.C. based activity. The JPDO is a collective effort by six federal agencies and industry, led by the FAA, to redesign the National Air Transportation System. AmTech's primary responsibility has been to establish the mechanism for industry partnership. AmTech led the planning activity with major industry associations and companies that culminated in formation of the NGATS (Next Generation Air Transportation System) Institute. AmTech wrote the legal agreement between the FAA and NGATS Institute and serves as partnership advisor to the JPDO and the NGATS Institute. The UAV National Industry Team (UNITE) AmTech gathered together senior leaders from the UAV industry and persuaded them to form a national industry organization to lay the foundation for civil and commercial UAV business in the United States. AmTech was instrumental in helping UNITE persuade NASA to commit $100M to a government-industry partnership to generate rules and regulations permitting routine UAV flight in the national airspace system. Southeast Asian Leadership Initiative (SALI) AmTech provided guidance and support to business and social leaders from Southeast Asia who sought to create a community of inspired youth leaders with a regional, rather than nationalistic, identity. AmTech sponsored the first year of activities, formed the nonprofit organization, and provides website and financial management services. |
